WordsWorth’s owner, manager, and employees

Paula Pike has owned and operated WordsWorth since 1982. She is proud of her ongoing client relationships and the steady growth that her business continues to achieve. Before creating WordsWorth, Paula was the Managing Editor of Editorial Services at Butterworths Canada. She has worked in the publishing industry since 1971 and is a founding member of the Editors' Association of Canada.

Jim Lyons has been an indispensable member of the WordsWorth team since 1991. He is responsible for training WordsWorth employees and for providing the necessary guidance toward the completion of large projects. Jim was a co-winner of the Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence in 1998 for his work on Electronic Commerce and Canada's Tax Administration: A Report to the Minister of National Revenue by the Advisory Committee on Electronic Commerce.

Shani Sohn worked for a number of years on newspapers and newsletters before joining WordsWorth in 1992. Shani's abilities as both an editor and a designer make her particularly versatile — editing newsletters as well as creating original covers and layouts for various publications.

Nancy Ennis was trained in both PC and Macintosh platforms before joining WordsWorth as a production editor in 1996, bringing a wide range of editorial experience to her position. Nancy began her career in publishing in New York City in 1986. Since moving to Toronto, she has held a variety of editorial positions in school and college publishing. Most recently, before joining WordsWorth Nancy set up and ran the permissions department at Harcourt Brace and Company.

Cindy Fujimoto originally joined WordsWorth in 1986, but left in 1995 for a five-year hiatus in Japan. She has now returned, bringing her fine eye for detail and strong organizational skills along with her. While in Japan Cindy kept her skills honed by working on English-language publications and helping her friends learn English.

Tara Wells is responsible for typesetting and book design of high school, college, university, and tax books. Her design work includes Trillium-listed books such as This Earth, Work Smart, American History, Get It Written, Get It Right!, Canadian and World Politics, and Canadian Civics. Along with design, Tara's past experience with comics informs her scripting and editing of educational comic pages, as seen in Work Smart and Making Economic Choices.

David Handelsman worked as an ESL teacher and then as a freelance copy editor and proofreader before joining WordsWorth. He brings with him a sharp eye for detail and a wide range of experience in trade non-fiction and academic publishing.
